At Westlake, our golf course is not only an asset for our residents, but it is also an asset that enables us to provide a venue for various charitable events.
On June 3, 2015 the Westlake Golf & Country Club located in Jackson, New Jersey held its 11th annual Prostate Cancer Golf Outing. The Westlake Men’s Golf association has selected “The Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey” as their charity of choice. At Rutgers, the Prostate Cancer Program is uniquely positioned to make historic advancements in the prevention, research and treatment of prostate cancer. The funds raised over the years support the experimental research of Dr. Isaac Kim, chief of the Section of Urologic Oncology. He and his team have developed new surgical techniques that lead to faster recovery.
This year we had 136 golfers enjoy a great day of golf at Westlake’s award winning Arthur Hills Golf Course followed by a wonderful dinner at the club’s grand ballroom. Here Dr. Kim discussed how our contributions have been used in his team’s efforts. He also expressed his personal thanks to Larry Vaccarino and John Kline for their hard work in organizing this event for so many years.
The golfers and sponsors participating in this year’s event raised over $20,000 for The Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Over the past eleven years this event at Westlake has contributed over $100,000 to support this worthy charity.
On behalf of Dr. Kim, many thanks to all our residents and guests who attended and contributed to this great event.
