On November 8th, 2016 key members of the Westlake Women’s Golf Association (WWGA) presented a charitable donation in the amount of $17,421.00 towards the 1LT Dennis W. Zilinski, II Memorial Fund. This extraordinary amount was made possible thanks to the efforts of countless many who participated in the WWGA “Keep It Local” Charity tournament on August 18th, 2016 as well as other fund raising activities such as the “Hall Art” and the “Spring and Fall Fling” dances held in May and September 2016 respectively. The 1LT Dennis W. Zilinski, II Memorial Fund was founded by his family and friends to honor the life and memory of U.S. Army LT Dennis W. Zilinski, II who was killed in action in Bayji, Iraq on November 19, 2005. The fund provides support to improve the morale and welfare of members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Additionally, by providing scholarships, the Fund invests in the future of high school students who embody the leadership qualities and community spirit of LT. Zilinski. As was done last year, the WWGA contributions will be used to rescue and train a “Service” dog to place with a local veteran suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD).
