Another November to Be Thankful!

Another November to be Thankful!  Yes, but not just because it’s time for Turkey, the trimmings and gatherings for Thanksgiving!  During the month of October, our Westlake Golf & Country Club Newsletter recognized the many clubs and committees that were caringly committed in support of charitable organizations.

This month we at Westlake remember and give thanks for a special group of men.  They are the Westlake Men’s Golf Association (WMGA)!   Saving lives through their fundraising efforts, the WMGA held its fourteenth Annual Golf Outing to benefit the prostate cancer research center at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

Over the last 14 years, with the hard work of the Westlake Men’s Golf Association team, led by their senor staff of Larry Vaccarino and John Kline, they have raised closed to $200,000 for prostate cancer research.  Every year the dedicated team spends hundreds of hours preparing for this tournament.  They reach out to the Jackson Community of dedicated and generous sponsors that enthusiastically contribute.  This year alone, Westlake residents purchasing link sponsor signs, together with over 130 registered golfers, raised $26,000.

Dr. Isaac Yi Kim, who leads the research, is the Executive Director of the Prostate Cancer Program and Chief of Urologic Oncology at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.  Attending the tournament, Dr. Kim provides an update on the progress of research, and personally thanks Larry, John and their team for their hard work and relentless dedication.

For any golfers, or residents, that did not have an opportunity to join efforts in the past to help eradicate prostate cancer, we hope you will consider joining the WMGA in June 2019, for their Fifteenth Annual Prostate Cancer Golf Outing.

So, as we prepare for Thanksgiving, it’s just not another November to be thankful!  It’s each year, month, week, and day to be thankful for our Westlake Golf & Country Club residents that continually support so very many important charitable endeavors!  I know I will!
